Two-factor authentication — how to set it up

Two-factor authentication adds a second step when you sign in to the Bedspot Staff Center: after your password, you type a 6-digit code from your phone. Someone who learns your password still cannot sign in without your phone.

What you need

Your phone, with an authenticator app — for example Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator.

Set it up (once)

  1. Install an authenticator app on your phone.
  2. Sign in to the Staff Center and open Two-Factor Authentication (the shield icon at the top of the page). If an administrator has made it required for your account, the setup page opens by itself after you sign in.
  3. In the app, choose to add an account and scan the QR code on the screen. Can't scan? Choose to enter a setup key and type the key shown under the QR code.
  4. Type the 6-digit code the app now shows and press Confirm & turn on.
  5. Write down the backup codes shown next and keep them somewhere safe, away from your phone. Each one works once, if you ever lose your phone.

Signing in from now on

Enter your email and password as usual, then the 6-digit code the app shows. The code changes every 30 seconds — if it is refused, wait for the next one and make sure your phone sets its time automatically.

Lost or changed your phone?

Type one of your backup codes in the code box instead of the 6-digit code. Once you are signed in, open Two-Factor Authentication, turn it off with your password, and set it up again on the new phone. If an administrator has made it required for your account, you cannot turn it off yourself: ask an administrator to lift the requirement for a moment, so you can do this. No backup codes left? Contact an administrator.
